New Projects
What else are we working on! Well, there is a larger 40" version of the P38 in the works (with our 9x7 props of course).
and there are larger versions of the P61, F8F Beatcat, and B26 on the drawing board for use with 4-bladed 10x7 props.
Last year's first ME-262 jet with twin 1700kV motors was not successful - the wings suffered from severe flutter
at high speed, and it flew terribly - so it was "back to the drawing board". Prototype #2 with it's redesigned high-speed wing has been successfully flown and
is a fantastic high-performance model. It still has a small problem with tail flutter at very high speed, but other than that it's great.
The XP-56 Black Bullet is giving me fits. It it incredibly strange and is having some kind of problem with adverse yaw.
It looks great in the air, when it isn't flying like a helicopter without a tail rotor! This seems to be a result of the nose acting like a "tail" (remember these are profile models) so
the next flight tests will try out a solid nose. I am thinking about trying a dual motor with counter-rotating props. We shall see...
BOMBERS are in the works! In addition to the Lancaster, we've designed and flown a B24 and a B17 and we're having a blast with them.
Other projects I have in mind are the XF-7 "Flying Pancake" as well as a Grumman Goose.
We also have plans for a big B-26 Invader, a 7-channel Dauntless Dive Bomber with dive flaps and bomb release, and believe it or not, that's not all, we have even more ideas - but those are enough to keep us busy for a long time.
We hope that at least sounds interesting!! Start building your Rabid Models Air Force now!
